Home      Why you should visit Kenya

One of the reasons you should visit Kenya is the variety of wildlife that you will see. From the coast, Tsavos, Amboseli, Mt Kenya region, Samburu, Nakuru and masai mara. The list is simply endless, all waiting for your visit.

Like the wildlife, there exist more than 40 tribes in Kenya. Each of these tribes has their own ways of life. Different traditions that have been passed on from one generation to the other. One of the best moments is to sit down with locals, and listen to their ways of life.

Friendly people:

You will notice that Kenyans are very friendly people. You will get assistance very quickly whenever you need it. Every place you go you will hear ‘Jambo’ all the times. Just respond ‘Jambo’ back. It simply means ‘hi’ or hello in Kiswahili

Masai mara:

Without a doubt, it is one of the world famous national reserve. Although it is not a must you go there, it should be on your ‘to-do’ list. The richness of wildlife in this reserve is one that is going to surprise you.

Rich history:

From the years before independence, there is a great and rich history of how the Mau Mau, rebellion group formed to fight against colonialization. How independence was achieved and so many other changes that have been taking place.  Both for good and some with negative effects. How Christianity came to be and the progress of later years.

Lake Turkana:

Famously also known as the Jade sea, it is the biggest desert lake in the world. Here you meet with the local Turkana people and the endangered Elmolo people, the fishermen of Lake Turkana. But besides this, Turkana region has gone into the books as the origin of mankind. It is here that remnants that prove that early human existed here millions of years back.

Mt Kenya:

The Mountain of God:  In Kikuyu, the local tribes that live here called this mountain as Mt Kirinyaga, the mountain of God. When the white men came, they were not able to say the kikuyu name, and it ended up sounding like ‘keenya’. That is how this mountain got renamed to Mt Kenya. It is such a beautiful mountain and one worth climbing for those who can.

Beautiful beaches:

Needless to say, Kenyan Coast boosts some of the most beautiful white sandy beaches. It is one area worth a visit, and another reason why Kenya should be on the list as you next holiday destination.

Food culture:

From the coastal area, you meet the specialist in cooking rice, the ‘Pilau’. Further into Central Kenya, you meet ‘Githeri’ people. To the Western Kenya, here you meet the Luo communities, the fishermen and Ugali. In between these regions you meet so many other food varieties. You cannot be able to taste all of them. But where you can, just try a little. Some you may like others not.

Bird life:

You don’t have to be a birder to enjoy birdlife. You can’t help to notice the varieties of birds all around you, and in so many shinny colours. You end up seeing travellers who not birders are doing click-click with their cameras.

Such beautiful sceneries around you, no matter where you are travelling to or from. Hills around you, mountains, lakes, savannahs and river crossings. The changes are just amazing, all around the country.

Some of the best areas to visit are around the lakes, and Kenya is blessed with so many of them. From Lake Turkana, lakes Baringo, Bogoria, Nakuru. All these are places worth your glance.

Wildebeest migration:

This is probably one of the biggest reasons why many tourists pour into Kenya during the months of July-September. It is a sight to behold and one that has already been named as the 7th wonder of the world. Here, millions of wildebeests and zebras migrate between Kenya and Tanzania.
