Once called Lake Rudolf, the jade sea is a rift valley lake in Kenya’s Northern part. Lake Turkana, as it is commonly known today, is a permanent desert lake. It is actually both the world’s largest desert lake and the largest alkaline lake.

It is here in Loiyangalani the annual cultural festival is held in June. It is a cultural festival of 14 communities, all with varied ways of living. The festival history dates back to 2008. It is a time for the different communities to mingle, share and at the same time promoting peace in the region.

The event showcases art work, Crafts, traditional costumes, dances and music from the different communities. It is a sight not to be missed.
