Mount Longonot is a volcanic mountain located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. The name Longonot is derived from the masai word which means Steep ridges, ‘oloonong’ot.
The excursion to Mt longonot can be done as part of a bigger or combination in a safari or simply as an excursion on its own. It is about an hours drive or less, 60 kilometers from Nairobi through the rift valley with with its great scenery.
The inactive mountain has such a breathtaking view once you reach the top. You can be able to see all around your with such great views, including the caldera.
Depending on your luck, you can see animals like buffaloes, Giraffe among other wild game. Lots of birds abound here too.
This trip requires some minimal fitness as it has some relatively steep points, but it is such a rewarding hike, away from the city, or as an add on to another trip.
