Location & Description |
Nestled at the foot of the Oloololo Escarpment and on the north west boundary of Kenya's famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, on a beautiful forested bend of the majestic Mara River, is one of Kenya's smallest and most charming tented lodges.
The resident Hippo of Mara River Camp have long ruled out any possibility of a swimming pool, while roaming herds of bull Elephant have also put an end to any exotic gardens. However the indigenous shrubs are plentiful and the surrounding trees house many beautiful birds. Only a few kilometres downstream the annual migration of the Wildebeest and attendant Zebra and antelope may be in full flow, as they run the gauntlet of the dangers of the Mara River.
Mara River Camp is favored by naturalists, wildlife researchers, film crews, photographers and conservationists. Resident guides are always available for informative nature and bird walks. Being of Maasai origin they delight guests with fascinating insight to Maasai culture.
